Abstract

The importance of this research lies in its highlighting of a modern training method that has not received sufficient attention in youth training programs, despite its direct impact on developing physical fitness components related to skill performance. The research also contributes to providing a clear scientific framework for basketball coaches on how to employ varied training within training units in a systematic and well-planned manner, which positively impacts the players' speed-strength and defensive performance. The research problem was that some coaches lack the use of modern training methods that simulate actual playing conditions, which negatively affects the players' defensive performance and limits their ability to meet the changing demands of modern competitions. It was also observed that the defensive performance of youth suffers from a clear fluctuation resulting from a weak connection between physical abilities, especially speed-strength, and skill application on the court. The aim of this research was to identify the effect of differentiated group training within a training unit on developing speed-strength and defensive skills in youth basketball. The experimental method was used, and the research sample consisted of a team from the Basra Governorate Education Directorate. After implementing the training, the most important conclusions were reached: differentiated group training within a training unit is effective in developing speed-strength and defensive skills in youth basketball. The recommendation was to adopt differentiated group training within the training unit due to its importance in developing speed-strength and defensive skills in youth basketball.
